What if our government.............

I have posted information about the horrible massacre that is going on in Gaza and have been emailed with excuse after excuse people give Israel for commiting these horrific acts. None of them hold any water or even sway my outrage over the terrorist acts of Israel. When I have responded to these individuals I have used this comparison: I have drug dealers in my area. They commit crimes, do drive bys and incite fear. Would I be o.k. with my government going in and bombing the homes of these drug dealers, killing their families including their children. Even killing their neighbors? Absolutely not!

  1. First there's a difference between a terrorist and a drug dealer. A big difference. Second, here's the problem with your analogy: Hamas (like a drug dealer in your analogy) stores its weapons in places like homes of innocents and non-combatants, mosques, UN-run buildings and schools. You say in your analogy that Israel is just "killing the families of the drug dealers," etc. That is not what's going on. Hamas leaders deliberately stores weapons in the places I listed above. Then, when Israel drops leaflets and blasts radio trasmissions in Arabic that its going to bomb these places, instead of respecting human life, Hamas rounds up innocent women and children and tells them to go into the house so that Israel won't bomb. Hamas does this because it does not respect human life. It knows, however, that Israel does and would never deliberately bomb civilians. Hamas seems to understand the fundamental morality of Israel and what it stands for - it understands this and uses it against Israel. Hamas uses the Palestinian people (who want peace, of course) as pawns. So who really respects the lives of innocent civilians - the country that sends warnings and messages to leave or the people that tells those innocents to get as close to the cross fire as possible and hideout near weapons in the hopes that they die and can then be used as terrorist propaganda? Also, the usual debate seems to assume that there are two sides in this conflict: Israel and the Palestinians. Wrong. There are three: Israel, the Palestinians and Hamas. The first two parties want peace; Hamas does not - it wants the destruction of a soveriegn state. Israel, in the end, wants peace, as do Palestinians, but sadly, Hamas wishes for the destruction of an entire group of people and sovereign state. Another thing which gets overlooked is the fAct that HAmas turns military targets into civilian targets (as I mentioned above) and then goes ahead and bombs innocent civilians in Israel. At least Israel goes after military targets. You definitely cannot say the same thing about Hamas. One thing that I think captures the entire conflict is this: where are the leders of Hamas hiding out? Underneath a hospital. Despicable. How can you justify being so selfish as to use hospital, full of innocent people as hiding place?

  2. Greg, I am so tired of hearing excuses for killing innocent women and children. There is no excuse. It has been proven that many Iraeli bombings were perpetrated without cause, ex. the bombing of a UN school and UN facility that had food and supplies for the now starving Gaza residents. One persons terroist is anothers freedom fighter and Hamas while wrong to send rockets to the Israeli side, did not do so just because it dislikes Iraelis. Many Israelis do not respect a Palestinians right to a homeland either. Most Israelis are not there because they were there for generations, they are there because they came in and took the land and killed anyone in their way. Gaza is in essence a modern day concentration camp. It is the most densly populated are in the world and when the Israeli government drops leaflets telling the people to leave their homes it is not out of concern for the people. It is a form of terrorism. How can the Israeli government prove that there are weapons stored anywhere? It has been proven that they are bombing indescriminately. Do you know most of the people of Gaza are very poor and once they leave their homes they first of all don't know where to go, are very cold, and can't guarntee they will even have a home to come back to. The Israeli's have again and again used Palestinians as human shields and don't give a care who they hurt as long it protects their soldiers. This is cowardly and unjust. It is so horrible even Jews, the one's who have hearts, are speaking out against it. I am sorry, but there is nothing you can say to justify these actions!
